  • What a record breaker! In the short space of 1 day, I have sold off my trusty EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM. I kinda miss it now as it has helped me to capture some of my best shots. I hope it gets a new lease of life with its new owner now - take good care of it my friend, you know who you are.

  • At last my EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM arrives. Its been a long wait and I was really excited to finally get a piece of this lens. My initial impressions are that the build quality is typical of L lens from Canon, hence a huge difference in feel from the EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM that it's replacing. A casual comparison of similar images shot at 50mm, f/8 also shows the former to be slightly sharper, brighter and displays that familar creamy feel of L lenses.

  • Argghh!! I just realised that I wiped out quite a bit of news updates between 10th August 2005 to 5th October as I edited an early file and replaced the updated one on this site. Obviously, I did not have a backup for it. I feel so silly!!! Anyway, the news have been re-added, hope this didn't confuse anyone..
  • Reports have been popping up in several forums on flare problems with the new EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM. See the following threads on Fred Miranda's forums (1,2,3,4), DPReview (1,2) and Rob Galbraith (1). Darn!! I was hoping to replace my EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM with the EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM soon!! Looks like I'll have to wait some more.

  • Following yesterday's comparison review, Luminuous Landscape posts another comparison review from a different author and this time between the EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM and the EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM. This is more interesting for me since I am contemplating upgrading to the newer L glass.

  • Ok ok, so I sold off my Speedlite 550EX and bought the new Speedlite 580EX and should have updated this page and the equipment list page back on 7th April 2005. I admit it.. I was too too pre-occupied, it completely slipped my mind. Anyway, I have had quite a bit of use of this new flash and I must say, I love it! The Speedlite 550EX was no slouch but the Speedlite 580EX is even better! Longer battery life, faster recharges between flashes, reaches further, and a slightly more consistent exposure - you get my drift.
